The Brutalist 2024
Monumental film. Adrien Brody delivers a moving performance of the immigrant story that weaves together trauma, love, loss, pain, and hope. Brilliant build up of the american dream before its shattering in the second half. Consistently beautiful to look at, particularly the many upward-gazing shots highlighting the ambition of buildings and characters alike (the frenetic opening and jazz club sequences!!). Shout out to the epic sound environment and score as well.
