Based on Somerset Maugham's novel, the film is quite compelling with good performances especially from Power, Baxter and Marshall. Gene Tierney plays her role in the style of the day which dates the film. A long but involving film that stands up reasonably well today.

Enjoyably funny Abbott & Costello movie based on a Damon Runyon story. Some memorable sequences with the boys, a host of colourful character actors and some great musical sequences make this one to recommend.

Superb, exhaustive documentary on the legendary film composer. Not just a bunch of famous people paying homage, this really gets deeply into the man and his music. Highly recommended.

This true story is mostly well-done but the decision to weave bits of the play it was based on into the action comes across as stilted and pretentious and reduces the power of the story. The father seems to be too easily able to change a lifetime of homophobia, making it idealistic rather than realistic. Its heart is in the right place, though. Good performance by Oscar Martinez as the father. Other performances are uneven.
