  Not to be melodramatic but my life is actually definitively broken up into pre and post Mulholland Drive periods. Lynch taught me the primacy of intuition when it comes to art: to look and feel, to probe the furthest corners of the heart and fearfully, lovingly confront what’s there.

  post-recession the devil wears prada. riddled with fear of economic destruction but brave enough to envision a world where one can overcome its threat through the cultivation of community. radically optimistic and charmingly naive. 

  also stylistically predicts the nostalgia and optimism of 2010s twee. crucifies the ice cold hathaway/blunt cool girl of only three years prior to instead exalt the jewel toned bohemian whimsy of Isla Fisher’s Rebecca.
