In Bruges 2008
This film blends two polar opposite genres and somehow makes it magnetic. Notions and worlds so incredibly distant that the movie uses as forced perspective. Here, they stand side by side: in the foreground a comedy, an unlikely buddy-assassin movie with the inevitable tragic background, or, a drama centered around remorse, death, and depression featuring a cocaine-sniffing dwarf. Either way, this film delivers powerful performances despite any odds, and truly masters any possible perspective you choose to see the film from.
