The Creator 2023
I'm starting to think Gareth Edwards is an acquired taste. All of the complaints about this being a Star Wars rip-off are somewhat valid I guess, but I feel like he took all the best parts of that franchise and cranked them up to eleven.
It's a fully realized story set in a fully realized world. Which is more than I can say for most of the blockbuster films that have been released in the past ten years.

I guess I'm gonna join the crowd and say that Brendan deserved that Oscar, but I'm not sure how often I'll be rewatching this one. The complaints about this being too grotesque and miserable are lazy though. It's challenging and dark and it's not pleasant to look at. Isn't that true of any messy life?
