  Spectacular production value with excellent cinematography. The story is interesting but is lacking in some thematic through lines. It’s a common occurrence with biopics. Real life doesn’t always lend well to plot structures.

  This is the first Kurosawa film I’ve seen with color and it’s very striking. I wish more films used color like this. This is a bit of a different film than what Kurosawa normally made. I appreciate the creativity to make an anthology films about different dreams and morals. It doesn’t quite stick with me as his other work but I still enjoyed it.
