The Dark Crystal 1982
I came in not really knowing what to expect from this film, but I left this movie with a smile. The practical effects used in this film are so astounding even today, it is like a beautiful magical world that came to life. I genuinely believe CGI could not recreate a movie like this one. The story was very simple, but it was a straightforward one. I had a lot of fun watching this with my friends as we laughed at how silly the creatures speak sometimes.
A beautiful film and a huge indicator that practical effects can be timeless.
