I feel like I initially went in expecting the film to have as much thematic depth as The Witch or The Lighthouse, and was maybe a bit disappointed when I didn't find it.     I usually find most "based on actual events" movies to be quite drab and boring, and I remembered liking this movie when I first saw it, but I appreciated it so much more on a rewatch. Its rhythm is impeccable, the performances are memorable, and it manages a perfect balance between tackling bigger themes while still focusing on smaller details that make stories like this one so fascinating. Definitely one of the best examples of *this type of movie*.
