This is a difficult film for me to review, it hit so hard and so well that I’m struggling to find words.

Joyland is messy, but in the most beautiful way. It captures something about human experience and interaction that no other film I’ve watched has done successfully. The character work from the actors was really good too, I knew immediately the type of person each character was before they even spoke a lot of the time.

    RIP sheepy

Not a lot of horror films actively scare me now, after over a decade of loving horror. The Ritual however broke this trend.

The cinematography was on point with so many subtle details that brought the whole thing together. The suspense was outstanding, it didn’t resort to jump scares and the story and setting were captivating.

I found myself constantly scanning the background of the film for the entity and for other clues. The design of the entity is so…
