One of those movies where you sit there and are just in awe the entire time. I can easily say that I’ve never seen a movie like this before. We hardly get to see something this beautifully crafted, it really was a treat. Although the story made me uncomfortable at times, it made up for it with a new perspective and sense of awareness. Could go on forever about how everything in this film seemed perfect: the acting, score, cinematography, etc. Would definitely watch again.
Every time I watch a Marvel movie I swear to myself that I will never put myself through another one again and yet, here I am. Fell asleep for an hour through the middle of the film so take that into consideration for my review, but from the parts I did see, it was formulaic so no surprises in the plot; the humor was child-like and didn’t make me laugh; the characters had little to no consequences so it wasn’t relatable or thrilling. That being said, it’s a popcorn franchise and everyone loves it so, it is what it is...
Genius. Premise is so incredibly simple, yet so thought provoking and expressive. Wes Anderson-like playfulness in its beautiful cinematography and score. Slow paced and shots are held long but the characters and story are so intriguing that you’re constantly curious and never bored. Very interesting look into couples expectations as gender roles shift. There is no right and wrong, the viewer is simply a bystander watching a series of events unfold in front of them. Actors were incredible. Must watch.
A real bummer. I got more out of the 2 min trailer then I did from the entire film. The dialogue, premise and cast was all there, but was sadly thrown away with poor direction and pacing. Although the pacing picks up in the last act, the majority of the film is fairly slow. The set up was extremely poor, resulting in weak to little pay offs.
