Theo James is so fucking boring, man. The Monkey would’ve been so much more entertaining if nearly anybody else had been cast as Hal and Bill.
Also, what was it trying to do aesthetically? The scenes with young Hal and Bill were never convincing as taking place in the late ‘90s, and nothing after the 25 year time jump ever seemed modern.

Also in my showing, when the cop got stabbed in the dick, somebody in the theater yelled “oh no, his penis!” and then the projector immediately malfunctioned. So 10/10 viewing experience.

This movie is going to stay with me for a long, long time. The guilt and pain Enid feels is tangible from the very beginning, and it permeates the entire movie. Censor is horror, but it’s very much a tragedy. Enid’s descent into madness becomes extremely hard to watch as her belief that an actress, Alice Lee, is her sister who’s been missing for decades completely engulfs her.

I have a lot of thoughts about The Medium, but I don’t know exactly how to put them. It’s a terrifying movie about the total annihilation of a family. It’s devastating, and it pulls punch after punch after punch. Watching it for a second time definitely made me see these characters through a different lens.
