The House of the Devil 2009
This movie created dread from start to finish. Despite very little terror being created until the end of the story, I was certain havoc was about to break out at all times.
I love that this movie was made in 2009 but was truly believable to have been made in the eighties. It seems as though the creative direction was thought out and much effort was taken to adhering to techniques and style of the eighties.
The ending was fast and simple. No major twist and turns, yet the story was effective and interesting. Sometimes there's no need in overcomplicating things.

Netflix said this movie was a 97% match for me... The algorithm was correct. This movie was outrageous and heart warming. I found Schwarzenegger delightfully charming and Devito crawling out that window a strong start. Goofy and sweet. And that massive pile of chain had me heehaw laughing. (I could have gone without the multiple uses of "mama").
