a balm for a weary lover girl! It’s sweet and cute and real. the chemistry is THERE. I absolutely love how colorful it is, the shots and scenes - even the fisheye lens. Black people being multifaceted, vibrant, and in love?!? Crying! REAL TEARS. One of my new favorites.

Conclave 2024
one of my favorite movies of the year; the striking nature of the color red, the indulgence and sparseness of the cardinals’ lives, the GOSSIP, the role of certainty (and lack thereof), and me really processing my disbelief at the ending reflecting both film critique and an agreement with the film’s major arguments. I was also so tickled and appreciative of how they represented the modernity through the film. The VAPE? The scrolling….I was amused the whole time. I also appreciated the inclusion of the sisters and their role in keeping this way of life afloat.

Like others have said, all the actors (especially Naomi Ackie, Adria Arjona, and Alia Shawkat) showed up to ACT with a capital A, and I even got to see my girl Geena Davis.
