A Real Pain 2024
This was nice. Feel-good but not toooo feel-good. Good balance of giggly moments and almost-teary moments and contemplative hmmm moments. Simple premise, nice clean narrative, everything works well, some gorgeous shots and yummy colour. Unfortunately it was also just totally forgettable. A deeply unremarkable film.

Maybe a perfect film? Vibes are immaculate. I'm forever trying to reconcile my love of sleazy films with my values, this film achieved the aesthetics of sleaze in the form of pastiche, which is perfect. There were moments in here that I initially interpreted as misplaced/misguided statements, but I don't think anything was meant to be handed to the audience so literally.
