    I like watching a movie from Iran and feeling like it's very humanistic, tender and just really layered. Philosophically rich, touching, timeless yet rooted in its own time and place. They happen to also have funny moustaches and old cars and it sometimes looks like it was filmed with a potato. Obviously this is just incidental to what makes it interesting.     I think every one of his movies usually has a character shouting “don’t you understand how high the stakes are?!” But he had to pack in so much he couldn’t find the moment to tell me this time, and so tbh I sometimes checked out during a battle.…
