  Ray is like a 4 year old who has recently learned all the profanities and slurs and prejudices of the world and is determined to make that known. Which is uncomfortable and uncalled for! I did laugh a lot, enjoyed the writing, and worked very hard to not imitate the Irish accents after every line 💪🏼

  I’d never seen a movie filmed like this, and while it took some adjusting, I think it was ultimately a really creative way to represent the menial, beautiful, detailed things we see while moving through the world: a just-ripe orange hanging heavily on a branch, the scuff of a shoe underneath a table, the little hairs on our own arms. I would love to read the book and see what came from the source material, maybe fill in the blanks…

  It was kind of astounding how high the volume of this IMAX theater was (mila and I both covered our ears at several parts LOL…. including like Oppenheimer sitting and thinking with blasts of noise overlaid which was like pls can I just watch him think without my seat rumbling), and yet I still couldn’t understand half the dialogue and needed subtitles. Basically I am an old lady. Anyway, audio elements aside, I tried to do some research before this…

  Do not expect too much from this movie that actually has really interesting content but is 3x too long and the man in front of me at the Brattle (where they don’t do raked seating wtf) was far too tall and tbh it is rude if you are a tall person to sit up front at the Brattle, especially if there are subtitles.
