  So frustrating how this gets at something genuinely compelling about the nature of fame and idolisation in the last 5 minutes of the movie but spent the majority of the runtime just being another oh look these people being kidnapped by a cult! bet you haven’t seen this before!

  Good movie with sexy people that has a more interesting conclusion than I initially thought. Cate Blanchett is soooo stunning and cool and great here, and this role for Michael Fassbender is in the same vein as The Killer where he is good at his job but also strange and off-putting which I think really suits him.

  Queer, sexy, funny, bloody, slightly surreal and surprisingly (?) tender. 

  I had so much fun watching this. Perfect casting all around. I feel like the surreal moments in this might be hit or miss for some but for me it really elevated the whole thing. 

  I’m going to be so smug about seeing this at BFI flare festival bc it doesn’t premiere in the UK until May. Everyone go see it when it does!

  Undisputed masterpiece. This is a movie that perfectly portrays longing, yearning, loving and losing, but I also love how it portrays women in general. The care they both show Sophie, the gathering at the festival, the scenes with Marianne and her students. It really highlights to me how few movies are this centred around women and only women.

  Watching it in a cinema really heightened the experience of an already perfect movie, because you really become so aware of how quiet it is. Everyone is trying to be as still and quiet as possible to let the movie have its full impact.
