  The Suspended Step of the Stork 1991

  The last film of the border trilogy I've seen. Had I started with this one, I'm not sure I would have seen the other two, which would have been a shame. It is still beautifully shot with contemplating long takes, but it is mostly incoherent otherwise. Interactions between characters seem unnatural and often repetitive. There are positive things to be said about this film, interesting questions that are asked, but these questions are also asked by the other two films of the 'trilogy'; only that the other films do much better jobs at reflecting on them.
