The Beast 1975
The famous dream sequence is indeed as obscene and revolting as one might hope; it is already foreshadowed in the opening scene of horses at play, with the drawn-out close-ups of horse genitals and vigorous humping. Yet this is also a comedy of male folly and an exploration of female sexuality. Probably safer to watch alone, regardless.

The Prestige 2006
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
How can person who killed another's wife and then the man himself look so smug in the end? Oh and he drives his own wife to suicide too. Wow.
It's even more dreadful when Nolan tries to ground the magic to reality when the final flourish is straight from the realm of fantasy.
I like some of his other films but there was scarcely a moment I enjoyed in this one.Translated from by -
The Child 2005
Thought this would be good with the glowing reviews floating around, but it wasn’t even passable. Maybe they were going for realism, but there are so many unnecessary scenes (the mother, the chase that dragged on and on etc) that went on for no apparent reason. In fact, nothing really happens in the second half—it could have been shortened to less than an hour and done. By the end, I had lost any sympathy for any of the characters, and wished I hadn’t bought this film and wasted my time.
