  Even better on a second viewing. You start to notice how cyclical everything is, how many small instances of plant and payoff are jammed into the first half. Audaciously bizarre but still nuanced and subtle enough in its theming.

  the single best Trump-era satire that exists. nothing even comes close. no other film gets the MAGA cult like this one, their separation from reality, their complete refusal to admit fault, and the insidious, twisted charisma they hold.

  it's also completely disgusting, a post-COVID ballet of piss, shit, blood, and vomit. i can't believe this movie got made, i can absolutely believe that most people hated it or were bewildered by it, but it was made specifically for me and it will forever remain one of my favourites.

  I might be rating this too low because I did really enjoy it. It just feels like there's so much more it's constantly flirting with, but it's all a bit too safe. A couple of genuinely shocking twists and turns but for all its expertly crafted production design and Hugh Grant's delicious performance it consistently falls back into cat-and-mouse games that are both tropey and contrived.

  I honestly would have far preferred something much more low-key, more talky, more willing…
