  Though I thoroughly enjoyed Ti West’s third installment in the X franchise, I docked it a half star for the flimsy mystery- the only flaw, in my opinion. Other than that, it is the strongest of the trilogy and a great nod to giallo.

  While flawed, this film takes the best of what works when Pitt and Clooney get together on celluloid and runs with it. It’s going for an Ocean’s 11-lite feel and almost achieves it. There are some pacing issues as well as stretching our suspension of disbelief to the snapping point in some scenes. That aside, the banter works, the comedy works, and overall the twists and reveals work. Popcorn cinema at its finest.

  A group of American scientists in a remote arctic outpost accidentally allow a creature into their midst who can mimic any other living thing perfectly. The tension and paranoia rapidly escalates within the camp leading to factions and violence between the all male staff. Though this film was released in 1982, the writing, acting, and practical special effects still hold up. This movie is a classic for a reason.
