this movie rlly gets something about sexual trauma that most films trying to actually talk abt sexual trauma just completely miss. i’m not going to go into too much depth, as i’ve seen it once and can’t fully articulate everything i wish to say, but i will say this: desire, trauma, the concept of sin and evil are all woven through this masterfully. eggers understood exactly what he wanted to write, and understands the concept of vampirism to a degree that i have not encountered in a very long time.
