idk yet. i was going to give up on this halfway through but i persevered and found the relationships paid off and gave way to a nice big schrader catharsis moment.
came around to the jarringly stilted dialogue by the end but it was hard to look past on a first watch. also poker scenes are really hard to do convincingly/interestingly on screen and these fell flat.
much like first reformed, it really feels like paul schrader is asking (me)…

tbh an almost-satifying, kinda emotional end to craig bond but messy. and a total waste of rami malek. I don’t think they ever even bother with a halfhearted explanation of why the villain wants to do the Evil Thing at all, disappointing.
also lol at the fact that the terrifying bioweapon was in fact created by MI6 as a counterterror measure, mirroring the reality of intelligence agencies creating the very circumstances that they then purport to fight against. M has committed crimes against humanity but he gets to do the final Bond toast, smh

this is a Good Film. America 9/11's a goddamn sacred tree and it's not subtle. anti-imperialism levels are off the charts here, especially for a blockbuster movie.
animal CGI admittedly does not hold up but Pandora itself is still fleshed out and looks good.
also idk how he can flip a knife and catch it in a mechasuit but he does it anyway and it is so cool.
great music + pretty colours. romeo + juliet walked so this could prance. honestly could have gone on for another 30 mins, ending was a little rushed and I would have happily consumed more melancholy french royalty debauchery.
