Ok this is just silly Kaiju fun. The characters speaking broken English with burned in Japanese subtitles, exchanging the anti nuclear war theme for anti bio engineering, giant monsters fighting. Everything you could possibly want is here. Is it fantastic? Absolutely not. But it’s such a time capsule for the late 80s early 90s and I had a blast. Definitely bloated and while the animatronics are super cool looking they definitely don’t allow for as much creativity in the action as just putting dudes in suits. Loved the miniatures.

Absolutely love the cinematography. These long takes with this slow moving, flowing camera.…

Some of the best political satire I’ve seen in a long time. What a hilarious film this is. I do think it falls short in dissecting certain characters but I personally didn’t find that to be the point. Still I find that it could criticizes authoritarianism in general if I was watching it…

This is one of the greatest films I have ever seen. Going into this I had no idea what this was going to be. Well this is my new favorite Takashi Miike film over audition. This is as crazy as any other Takashi Miike film while also balancing some interesting tonal changes. This film constantly switches tones. From scene to scene it switches from comedic, to disturbing, to have some actual deep character drama. This to me sums up every…
