A very adult philosophy film with kids movie presentation. At some points too sad I think, I cried thrice. Still loved it and thought it was the most real animated movie I’ve ever seen

"From the creators of Barbarian" made this a must-watch, and while I preferred the darker tone of Barbarian, this is an absolutely excellent film. I think it might be slightly hindered by inevitable comparisons to the Black Mirror episode with a similar plot, but that's not a complaint, it just feels very familiar at times. I watched this countless times as a teenager, but it's been at least a decade since I last saw it. Excellent film, and was pleasantly surprised by how well it holds up. One particularly distracting detail is seeing so many now-famous actors look incredibly young. I also completely forgot that my introduction to Cillian Murphy was him appearing absolutely starkers.
