Timotheé Chalamet is putting on a pretty awesome performance but the movie doesn’t really have much to say. Not quite as soulless and meaningless as Maestro but not exactly a character study either. It’s very A happened, then B happened, then C happened. A very artistically made Wikipedia article.
If you want a well made, honest character study on Bob Dylan, I highly recommend I’m Not There instead. This movie is perfectly entertaining, and the performances are great, but outside of that, it doesn’t feel particularly meaningful or memorable.
