rewatching this unironically is what I imagine all the legacy sequels we’ve gotten have been trying to capture. a perfect ridiculous movie that skewers and slices the audiences relationship with horror and what possesses us most about horror characters. partially by taking them and making them the main characters and taking us inside their hell in a way the first one never wanted to. in fact this movie is such an inverse of the original for its first hour that…

really wanted to love this given how much of a fan I am of Leone’s other westerns. The first two hours are genuinely so wonderful and climax with an incredible sequence that is immediately followed by a story choice that just smothers the movies momentum. Like there’s a solid half hour after the bridge sequence that is just… very boring honestly. Leone’s direction is gorgeous of course but can’t really save the loss of investment

okay the final sequence is so abundantly cool and insane that it makes the rest of the movie seem hilarious in comparison. Like they were just messing around for an hour knowing they were gonna pull an insane five minute DIY hell sequence straight out of one of those 1890s shorts and then just end the movie. Rad.

okay. what the hell. This is one of the best b-movie horrors I’ve ever seen and is an immediate favorite. Cannot believe I robbed myself of years of watching this because it just rules so hard. So funny so ridiculous just everything you want. I watched this like that video of Lois Griffin rolling around on the floor. My god. Please watch it
