I can’t say enough about this film. In all honesty, it gutted me. I was actually bawling at one point. It’s imperfect, but its imperfection fits so well. The whole cast was incredible. It felt so genuine, and now I know that had to do with most of the cast playing themselves. I’ve seen movies like this before, but none of them carried such raw emotional weight. In the Mood for Love 2000
Everything about this film is perfect. The best way to describe it is as a combination of impossibilities. Every scene captures this beautifully indistinct feeling of heart ache. Every color feels so vibrant yet dull. Every moment lasts forever but at the same time only a second. Even the score is happy and sad in its own melancholic way. Internally, it leaves you conflicted. This is one of those times where the credits roll and you just sit there in wonder. Eventually the screen turns black, but you don’t even notice.
