Thought this was excellent. So solid. The tonality was such a constant. Never felt like this missed a beat. I loved the moody color washing and the soundtrack was great as well. Every scene, every moment felt very intentional and synchronized. Just a really smooth sailing action / thriller.

I’ve seen plenty of the Scary Movie parody films but not once have I seen any of the OG Scream movies. That should be a crime in my 30s. I have to say, I was way more blown away from this than I ever anticipated. 90’s horror that stands the test of time. The gore was believable and grotesque. The sound design was great. The hardness and softness equally melts your soul into a beautiful puddle. Barry Jenkins came into a coffee shop I worked at in Charleston years ago before I knew the significance of this film. I wish I could go back in time and shake his hand for this moving piece of self discovery. Been a long time coming but I’m glad I can finally knock this one off my list. All 5 stars of course.
