So glad this was finally available somewhere, even if I had to pay 4 bucks on YouTube. Anyway, this works as a British ass zombie movie and was a building block to the subgenre in the 2000's. Wish I saw this before the tropes got blown out to hell, but it's still all good. Naomie Harris was especially excellent. While the digital camerawork worked for this movie, the fact that they used regular cameras at the end was distracting. I'm gonna watch all of em, though.

This was... fine. I haven't seen any of the other movies about charismatic people that are actually in cults so I can't base it off that. This had some interesting ideas and hinted at things re: fame and abuse of influence, but lacked any defining statements. It was more vibes than final substance. It does prove that Ayo Edebiri is more than capable of carrying a movie as a lead actress, and I hope she gets do do that more.…

Bring back hiring the author of the book to write the adapted screenplay. Also bring back having a rap song on the soundtrack that explains the plot of the movie.

It was predictable until in wasn't. I wouldn't call it a twist, but the third act reveal elevates the rest of the movie. Sonequa Martin-Green makes for a great lead and the supporting cast does well. The pay it forward thing is actually quite worthy here as this seems to be a good movie for vets to see.
