Marie Prevost isn’t enough to save this one. It plays like a super thin romance novel with unexpected marriage, marital rape, and a random baby which is used to make everything all right in the end.

This comes off as a strange 80s British sitcom that just goes on for a while, especially with Cynthia’s aspirations to ascend to another class, which quickly get dropped because the story has to move on. You mean to tell me that this 40something woman who doesn’t know the words for or how to do some very basic sex acts suddenly transforms herself into the best Madame ever catering to kinky gentlemen of a certain age? In the course of a few months? I didn’t believe anything that was going on from minute one of this film.
