  My brain was working overtime trying to keep up with the plot (possibly a result of not seeing the show/first film) but thought this was a really cool examination of Japan’s place in the world after WW2 and the cold war. 

  Some absolutely amazing visuals and music, and can definitely see this being an inspiration for stuff like Metal Gear Solid and Armored Core

  I've not given this a rating because even though it has an inherently fascinating concept there's some stuff that makes me... uncomfortable

  In spite of its chibi-looking characters, this is actually a dark(ish) fantasy anime about a mysterious abyss that people delve into for relics, to find out why it exists, and what's at the bottom of it.

  The dark(ish) part comes from the 'curse of the abyss'; this only affects people when they start to ascend…

  The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement 2004

  I had some fun with the first film but this is all just generic royal drama, so it loses all of the conceptual elements of the first film.

  Julie Andrews deserves better, fat Louis wasn’t fat enough, but extra points for the maid stuffing popcorn into the armchair at the end.
