  Eggers went for more macabre than horror, which is probably an acquired taste (referring to the group of Marvel bros I heard calling the movie overhyped as we walked out)

  The use of moonlight and silhouettes to frame scenes is masterful. Bill Skarsgard as Count Orlok is one of the greatest performances I’ve witnessed. Sound design is peak.

  For how obsessed Eggers is with history, the film could’ve dug a bit more into Transylvanian gypsies.
