Before seeing this film, the only experience I had of it was seeing the poster in various student houses....so I was slightly worried it was going to be a 'hipster chic', 'trying too hard to be cool' treatment of heroin addiction. I was wrong.

So I watched this film years ago but thought it was worth watching again. I wasn't disappointed.
It might not pack the same punch now as it did in 2004...but how could it? It was topical, made when Bush was still President and expecting it to have that same immediacy a decade on wouldn't be fair.
It's still an incredibly important film, documenting a (no exaggeration) turning point in world history. As always, Moore manages to combine this abstract idea with a human story that makes for difficult but worthwhile viewing.
Well I'm now doing something I thought I'd never do: writing a good review for a superhero movie.
Loved the setting (an alternate history where Nixon is still President way into the 1980s), the music (an awesome mix of everything from Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen to Mozart), brilliant written dialogue (God exists and he's American") and the moral complexity of the characters.
Also congrats to the writers on not making a single dick joke about Dr Manhattan. If only we were all as mature...
