  Swing and a miss for Guadagnino, I find it sus that this is supposedly the film he's always wanted to make. Queer is Burroughs second novel, intended as a continuation of Junky it is written in the same style, before he developed the Naked Lunch style most people associate with him. Where Junky is about the nature of addiction, Queer focuses on the addictive nature of desire through Burroughs lonely and tortured stay in Mexico City after he literally murdered…

  A Real Pain 2024

  A film about how we relegate our suffering through the convenience of modern comfort and create frictionless lives for ourselves because we've all become afraid of conflict and having to deal with the weight of our ultimately meaningless existences. Somewhat ironic then that this felt glossy and emotionally frictionless in exactly that same way. Unmoved.
