The Joy Luck Club 1993
this is the first movie where i truly saw me and my mom's dynamic portrayed in full. i felt so seen within this movie, from the types of jewelry that the moms wear to the a bit too-accurate scenarios of strain between the mother and daughter. if it says anything at all, halfway through this movie, i came up to my mom's room sobbing about how much i love her. i'm probably the most biased person ever to this movie, but the way that it shows not only the chinese experience but also the chinese american experience is so beautiful
