Truly impeccable vibes. The visuals are incredibly lush, the story of recalling ones' past/ancestors while preparing to immigrate is quite unique and very evocative, and the music has a nostalgic/retro early 90s vibe that enhances the whole experience. It's actually somewhat unfortunate that the 2nd most popular review of this film on this website rips into the soundtrack right out the gate. Cute! Very sleazy as well but the sleaze balanced out by a good amount of tenderness and more insightful moments.

A lot of this revolves around pairing earnestness and empathy with a central critique of misogyny but it comes off slightly tepid in my opinion. Although it doesn't excuse the young men and brush it off wirh some "boys will be boys" type of thing, the critique isn't exactly scathing and it doesn't get a whole lot of elaboration.
