I kinda liked this. Kids movies aren’t my thing, but the Croods have this maximalist approach that keeps my attention. Bright colours, action, big emotions, lots of laughs. Not bad.

Jiu Jitsu 2020
The protagonist has amnesia and the movie takes a long time to explain what it’s about. Lots of fight scenes before I understood the stakes or the characters or why anything mattered. Some fun was had designing the shots. Nothing landed for me emotionally.
Pretty fun character for Cage. He’s like a weird old wise cave-dwelling martial arts master who’s lost half his marbles.
It’s a movie with some good parts, but nothing holding the parts together.

Wild at Heart 1990
Surreal. Just what I’d hope for from a Nicolas Cage / David Lynch film. Laura Dern is fantastic in it also. Unsettling in parts, sweet in parts, overall quite an experience. Unlike anything else I’ve seen.
