A Different Man 2024
Wonderfully weird alternate universe filmmaking. I was obsessed with the first half and less obsessed with the second half, but it gets a four and a half for taking such a huge swing. Loved the crazy dolly / zoom combination moves and snorted out loud on a plane at some of the dark physical comedy.

Beautiful mythic filmmaking. Kind of feels like this is what the whole point of the medium is for. Some of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen on screen, immersive sound design and a deep, shimmering score that adds so much. Feels like there's so much context to the making of this movie that I do not at all understand, but the film speaks for itself. Feels like a half-remembered story told to you by multiple people over a long time.. very into it.

All We Imagine as Light 2024
Came out of this movie so shaken - really one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in a long time. So much to say but just go see it.
Visually it was stunning, Mumbai was wet and dark and blue, a sci-fi city where it’s always night and always raining. Realism moving into magic realism done so beautifully and tracked with a visual language that felt gritty and raw and so real. Honestly obsessed with this movie, a new favourite.

This movie is so fun man I had the best time. Incredibly confused how they got the festival footage @ the end until we realised they're all real people? Playing themselves? And they're good actors? And sexy?
I will say I think the film is clearly a low budget film trying to do big things, and for the most part they succeed. But at times it did feel to me like they were trying to be a studio film too…
