Anyway, this was so touching and it absolutely had no business being so good. So funny and tender at the same time. Rarely I see a film that both has a narrator voiceover and still manages to leave enough unsaid for the audience to figure out. Really beautiful, almost gave The Holiday in vibes, but managed to explore deep emotions and grief that romcoms usually don’t.
Pretty but a bit boring. Fine for a hook up, less ideal for a movie!
Honestly not steamy enough. I wish the rest of the film was more like the polo scene. And when I say the polo scene, I mean specifically the polo scene, not the “sex scene” after the polo scene. There was no chemistry between the two. But it has funny moments and the fantasy is still fun to watch unfold.
Anne Hathaway was going OFF. I love that she put an Oscar level effort into a B level melodrama. Okay honestly the film had all the ingredients to go absolutely insane, but it kept a little too serious. There were so many hints of cvnty (her walking into the recital in that outfit and fainting was exactly what I was looking for) but then it did just always go back to normal. I mean, there were also some beautiful shots that were giving Far From Heaven. And it really does make you think how far straight people will go to have kids… that can’t be healthy.
