its like nausicaa and chainsaw man with fascism in space and while its on the nose pretty hard at times, i really appreciate its earnestness and charm. the acting is hammed up in a perfect combination of camp and seriousness. it is a very poignant representation/commentary of both society and future possibilities. it felt very good moment-to-moment and probably has some? pacing issues on further interrogation but overall it is both fun and has something to say about the condition of the modern human, i think.

Weak in a self-contained sense, it is clearly a set up for a TV show, but I find it infinitely charming and enjoyable. Even with no context for the original series, it does a good job of clearly highlighting the philosophy of old vs new, heralding to its roots while carving a path to a different future in a metanarrative sense. Love the protags, love that the one dude looks like a girl and is a bum. Hoping for yuri!!!
