The most overrated director of all time. Directs like a hormonal 14 year old edgelord yet still finds a way to produce the blandest, most ineffectual set of empty, poorly-lit images.
I’d much rather something tasteless than not having any taste at all. This is a desert of meaning; the poetry, personality and courage of a true cinema desiccated, left standing only the mirage of spectacle.

Nosferatu 2024
Aesthetic masterpiece. Narratively clunky and overstuffed. I don’t think Eggers understood that Nosferatu is shadow, he doesn’t just reside in it; the mystery and ambiguity is the point. But most importantly, Lily-Rose Depp has arrived, channeling an energy found in Schneider and Adjani in Zulawski’s work.
