The book had two issues to me:
1)it was immaturely written. It felt like a bedtime story that someone makes up in installments every night for their kids. It did not have a strong narrative arc. And did not feel worthy of publishing.
2)it was emotionally manipulative. This is probably in place of actual good writing that can organically tug at your heartstrings. I felt beat over the head with the emotional beats of the book.
