Synopsis: A guy moved to Ella after his six-year relationship ended and his group of friends try to get him to get over his ex.
Thoughts: I liked how the guys were referencing scenes in Reservoir Dogs and Goodfellas and then ended up mimicking said scenes. I like the vibe of this movie — I’d like to make something like this.
Takeaway: “They never come back until you really forget.”
Synopsis: A college professor and an amateur hit man as a side hustle, Gary Johnson changes the mind of Madison, a young woman contemplating putting a hit on her husband, and the two ultimately fall in love.
Thoughts: Even though it said it at the beginning, I forgot that this was based off a true story which is pretty wild. It’s pretty interesting that director Richard Linklater has made several movies with Austin natives. And Glen Powell’s and Adria Arjona’s chemistry is hot.
Takeaway: A day removed from the FS1 news, this makes me double down on DO NOT DATE FROM YOUR WORK SPACE.
On the second watch, I can confirm this film is easily top 5, and can be my favorite on any given day. The camera shots in the movie are fantastic, and nothing else needs to even be discussed.
