  I can’t say enough good things about The Father. Based on the trailer, I dismissed this as dull Oscar bait that I would have no interest it. I could not have been more wrong.

  200 million dollars to make a movie that looks like Spy Kids 3D. The dialogue feels like it was written by a predictive text AI. 

  It wasn’t even funny! There’s a comedic tone to it all but there aren’t jokes.  Nothing remotely original going on here, constantly lifting story beats and imagery from better movies (1st hour or so plays exactly like The Force Awakens).
