With an interesting premise, this film sadly does not do its prop department justice. Other than looking at the monkey itself this film was neither scary enough to be a horror or funny enough to be a comedy, finding itself in an uncomfortable limbo. A film that for the first half hour I wanted to love but for the second I yearned for the credits

Joker: Folie à Deux 2024
With a lot to live up to unfortunately Joker 2 doesn’t quite hit the ground running, a lack of through line, tonal inconsistency, out of place musical numbers, poor chemistry between actors and a a clunky ending let this film down. However I do have to ask myself if this was a standalone film not following on from one of my favourites ever would I have been disappointed in it, no I think I would have enjoyed it a lot…

A great concept and beautifully shot but unfortunately this feels like a proof of concept for a greater longer more ambitious film, great performances and directing all round but a lack of character arks, good dialogue and a greater plot for what is offered let the film down.
