This movie is a terrific existential daymare… I enjoyed this more than the book. I tried watching it with an alternating current of perception: knowing the book, then pretending otherwise. Hated the Meta 4th wall breaking bullshit of the book, which does not occur in the movie. It played much better and left very surreal ambiguities, especially when I watched it using the layman’s current. After seeing this, I’m convinced Kilgore Trout is one of the most poetic fictional characters…

Last time I watched this I was in 5th grade when it came out in theaters. This movie is sweet. I mean that both colloquially as a loser sk8r, and tenderly as a person.
