A beautiful monochrome cinematic piece with a touch of Portuguese influence.Β
Going in blind, I had to double check the release date because I almost thought this film was way older than it seemed to be. It gives off a very β50s/β60s vibe from the very opening scene.Β
Filming in black&white in a [mostly] postmodern world is reach for most but when executed properly (with The Eyes of my Mother) is so beautiful and creates a more ominous feel to everything that unfolds. Β
No slow burns, kind of cuts to the chase from the get go.
