    β€œLoneliness can do strange things to the mind”

    A beautiful monochrome cinematic piece with a touch of Portuguese influence.Β 

    Going in blind, I had to double check the release date because I almost thought this film was way older than it seemed to be. It gives off a very β€˜50s/β€˜60s vibe from the very opening scene.Β 

    Filming in black&white in a [mostly] postmodern world is reach for most but when executed properly (with The Eyes of my Mother) is so beautiful and creates a more ominous feel to everything that unfolds. Β 

    No slow burns, kind of cuts to the chase from the get go.

    I can say the lack of dialogue leaves me impressed and unimpressed at the same time β€” the lack of dialogue gives a very eerine feeling to the entire film but leaves you wondering what was going on in the main character’s/protagonist head. Or even the anatagonists’ head. As a Walking Dead fan, I can probably only imagine.Β 

    Maybe that’s the meaning of β€œApocalypse Unknown.”
