Having never seen a Dan Mirvish film before, I read the short bio lines about the film covering the lost minutes of the Nixon Watergate tapes and expected a pretty serious political commentary based in the 70s. 18 1/2 completely subverted what I expected of it. The whole film plays out like a three act comedy based at an off-season holiday home with an array of outlandish characters and an explosive, chaotic end and I bloody loved every minute of it.

My most anticipated movie of 2021- I wanted to love it. I really wanted to love it.
The choreography is amazing, the street scenes beautifully shot, the songs are musical classics... but this film, like the 1961 original, remains problematic for me.
