    Transient, existentialist masterpiece that's at times so difficult to watch, so darkly funny, so confusing, so unpleasant, so beautiful and so disturbing. It bares a resemblance to that horrifying last half hour of The Irishman in the way it shows the chilling horrors of loneliness, sickness, families moving apart, falling out of love, ageing, death, not succeeding, impotence, rot and nothing mattering, but to an even more painfully honest and absurdist degree.

    What it lacks in the cosy tone of the original, it makes up for in feeling, mood and strangeness. Love the way expectations are completely subverted and nothing is resolved nicely or simply. Kyle MacLachlan is an absolute powerhouse here, playing four/five distinct characters and having all of them work for different reasons. The last five minutes are so weird and thought provoking and I am going to be thinking about this for a very long time. Thank you Lynch for this weird bullshit.
