Synecdoche, New York 2008
Transient, existentialist masterpiece that's at times so difficult to watch, so darkly funny, so confusing, so unpleasant, so beautiful and so disturbing. Twin Peaks: The Return 2017
What it lacks in the cosy tone of the original, it makes up for in feeling, mood and strangeness. Love the way expectations are completely subverted and nothing is resolved nicely or simply. Kyle MacLachlan is an absolute powerhouse here, playing four/five distinct characters and having all of them work for different reasons. The last five minutes are so weird and thought provoking and I am going to be thinking about this for a very long time. Thank you Lynch for this weird bullshit.
